Starting to collect any type of artwork is often based solely on the individual being in the right place at the right time. But once interested, the savvy collectors will then begin to go out of their way to learn more about the work they enjoy and wish to share with others. As the artist creator it still comes down to creating work you are (very) passionate about. And optimistically a collector will find you (not overnight typically but you never know) and follow your progress.
